MONTREAL - Cale Fleury was selected by the Seattle Kraken at the Expansion Draft on Wednesday.

Fleury is one of 30 players - one from each current team, except the Vegas Golden Knights - chosen by Kraken general manager Ron Francis to form the expansion club's first-ever roster ahead of the 2021-22 campaign.
The 22-year-old defenseman was among a list of 24 unprotected Habs available to the Kraken.

Fleury was a third-round pick of the Canadiens - 87th overall - at the 2017 NHL Draft.
He made his NHL debut in 2019-20, appearing in 41 games with Montreal and registering one goal and 102 hits.
Fleury also appeared in 96 games with the AHL's Laval Rocket over three seasons, amassing 34 points (11 goals, 23 assists) and 147 shots on goal.

The former WHL standout became the first Canadiens player to be selected in an expansion draft since defenseman Alexei Emelin was lost to the Golden Knights in 2017.
