MONTREAL - Montreal Canadiens general manager Marc Bergevin announced on Monday that the team has acquired forward Jordan Weal from the Arizona Coyotes in return for Michael Chaput.

Weal, 26, has played 47 games for the Coyotes and Philadelphia Flyers this season, recording 11 points (4 goals, 7 assists). The 5'10'' and 179 lbs forward has also won 55.8% of his faceoffs.
A native of North Vancouver, BC, Weal has suited for 153 NHL games with the Los Angeles Kings, Philadelphia and Arizona, posting 44 points (20 goals, 24 assists). Weal was Los Angeles' third-round pick (70rd overall) in 2010.
Signed as a free agent on July 1, 2018, Chaput recorded five assists in 30 games with the Canadiens this season. The 6'02'' and 205 lbs forward added 16 points (10 goals, 6 assists) in 24 contests with the AHL's Laval Rocket.
