The contract will see Belzile earn $700,000 in the NHL and $225,000 in the AHL, with a guaranteed salary of $250,000.

His on-ice skillset combined with his leadership qualities will help him battle for a roster spot at training camp next season," said Bergevin.
"It was important for me to take this opportunity that will allow me to pursue my career in the organization I grew up cheering for. Even as a 28-year-old, I still feel like I keep growing and improving as a hockey player. I hope to continue to help the Canadiens and the Rocket," said Belzile.
Belzile, 28, played 20 games with the Rocket in 2019-20, totaling 14 points (7 goals, 7 assists) and 30 penalty minutes. He missed 42 games due to injuries.
Since making his AHL debut in 2012-13, the right-handed forward has recorded 132 points (54 goals, 78 assists) in 239 games with the Hamilton Bulldogs, San Antonio Rampage and Rocket. The 6'0'', 205 lbs forward has amassed 68 points (26 goals, 42 assists) in 94 games with the Rocket. He earned his first career AHL All-Star invitation in 2018.
The Saint-Eloi, QC native played his entire Junior career with the Rimouski Océanic, from 2009-10 to 2011-12, registering 59 goals and adding 134 assists in 158 career games. He helped his team reach the QMJHL Finals in his final season.
