MONTREAL -- The Canadiens assigned forward Cole Caufield to the AHL's Laval Rocket on Monday and recalled forward Michael Pezzetta.
Caufield, 20, has one assist in 10 games with Montreal this season. He appeared in two games for the Rocket last year, registering four points (3 goals, 1 assist). Pezzetta, 23, has six points (3 goals, 3 assists) in eight games with Laval, along with a team-leading plus-7 differential.
The Toronto native, who was selected in the sixth round (160th overall) by the Canadiens in 2016, has yet to play an NHL game. Pezzetta boasts 25 points (13 goals, 12 assists) and 186 penalty minutes in 115 career AHL games with the Rocket. He enjoyed a strong showing with the big club during the preseason.

Perreault placed on injured reserve The Canadiens also placed forward Mathieu Perreault on injured reserve on Monday. The 33-year-old center is expected to miss two to three weeks with an eye injury. Perreault has four points (3 goals, 1 assist) in eight games this year.
