MONTREAL -- Montreal Canadiens general manager Marc Bergevin announced on Saturday that the team has claimed Quebec-born goaltender Samuel Montembeault off waivers from the Florida Panthers.

Montembeault, 24, posted a record of 8-4-1 in 13 games with the AHL's Syracuse Crunch in 2020-21. The Bécancour, QC native had a 2.86 goals-against average and a .898 save percentage
Montembeault has posted a record of 9-8-3 in 25 career NHL games with the Panthers, compiling a 3.20 goals-against average and a .892 save percentage.
He was selected in the third round (77th overall) by the Panthers in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft.
