Canadiens join the fight against cancer

MONTREAL -- Throughout the month of November, as part of the National Hockey League's and National Hockey League Players' Association's Hockey Fights Cancer program, the Montreal Canadiens will participate in various fundraising and awareness initiatives to emphasize the courage of those living with or moving past cancer.

HOCKEY FIGHTS CANCER NIGHT
On Saturday, November 19, the Canadiens will dedicate their home game against the Philadelphia Flyers to the children of
Leucan
, an association that has dedicated itself over the past 40 years to supporting cancer-stricken children and their families. Over 50 young Leucan members, along with their parents and siblings, will attend the game at the Bell Centre, where they will experience an unforgettable evening thanks to the generosity of corporate suite holders. During the pregame warmup, Canadiens players will sport special Hockey Fights Cancer jerseys and will use lavender-colored tape on their sticks. Those wishing to get their hands on these collectible items have until Tuesday, November 22 at 7:00 p.m. to place their bids at

. All proceeds from this auction will be given to Leucan, in order to offer help and support to families of children who have recently been diagnosed with cancer. Fans can also show their support to the cause by stocking up on lavender items via the

MOVEMBER
Throughout the month of November, a group of 11 Canadiens players and three of the team's athletic therapists will grow their mustaches in an effort to raise funds and awareness about men's health issues. Since 2003, more than $20 million has been reinvested by
Movember
in Quebec in order to fund ground-breaking projects across men's mental health and suicide prevention, prostate cancer, and testicular cancer. Fans are invited to support the Habs' efforts or to join their team by visiting

Across the province, the hockey community united in support of this campaign and to assist people with cancer and their families. Canadiens players, as well as those from the Laval Rocket and Trois-Rivières Lions, will wear Hockey Fights Cancer decals on their helmets until the end of the month. The Club also worked with Hockey Québec to distribute more than 1,000 decals to the 15 teams of the Quebec U18 AAA Hockey Development League and to the 18 teams of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL).
