Carey Price

MONTREAL - With a 3-1 win over the Red Wings on Tuesday, goaltender Carey Price earned the 315th win of his career - all of them with the Canadiens - vaulting him past Jacques Plante into first place in franchise history for all-time wins among goaltenders.

The native of Anahim Lake, BC joins some elite company: he will become the fifth goaltender to conclude a season as the Canadiens' all-time wins leader (joining Plante, Bill Durnan, George Hainsworth, and Georges Vezina). He is also one of 16 goaltenders in NHL history to record at least 300 wins with one franchise and now sits two shy of matching Chris Osgood (317 wins with the Detroit Red Wings) for fourth-most career wins by a goaltender with an Original Six franchise.

Here's a brief look back at the All-World netminder's incredible career thus far.
After Sidney Crosby went first overall at the 2005 Draft, the Canadiens made Price their first-round pick with the fifth overall selection in Ottawa.

Price would play out the remainder of his Junior career with the WHL's Tri-City Americans, capping off his years as an amateur by winning gold at the 2007 World Junior Championship in Sweden. He was named MVP and top goaltender of the tournament.

After the Americans were eliminated from the 2007 WHL playoffs, Price joined the AHL's Hamilton Bulldogs. He took part in two regular-season games before leading the Habs' minor-league affiliate to their first Calder Cup championship and winning playoff MVP honors for his efforts. Price became just the third goaltender in AHL history - and the first since Patrick Roy in 1985 - to lead his team to the league championship as a teenager.

Carey Price 1st game

On February 16, 2008, Price
turned aside 34 shots against the Philadelphia Flyers at the Bell Centre
to earn the first of his 43 career shutouts thus far.
Price was the starter as the Canadiens faced the archrival Bruins in the first round of the playoffs, and he helped them to a first-round win over Boston in seven games. He blanked the Bruins twice in the series, becoming the first Montreal rookie to earn a playoff shutout since Roy in 1986,
according to CBC
.
In his sophomore season, Price was selected to play in the All-Star Game for the first time in his career. He has gone on to become a six-time All-Star, and though he was selected for a seventh time in 2018-19, he did not take part in this year's event in San Jose.
In 2014, Price represented his country again, this time as an Olympian. He was stellar in Sochi, allowing just three goals against in five contests. Price and Team Canada won gold, and Price was named the tournament's top goaltender with a 0.59 goals-against average, .972 save percentage, and two shutouts.

Carey Price Olympics

The good times kept on rolling for Price the following season. He helped the Canadiens clinch the Atlantic division with a 110-point campaign, and set career highs for wins (44), goals-against average (1.96), save percentage (.933), and shutouts (9). The 44-win campaign was also a new franchise record. Price won the Vezina and Hart trophies as well as the Ted Lindsay Award, and shared the William Jennings trophy with Corey Crawford of the Chicago Blackhawks.

On April 3, 2018
Price played his 557th career game, which moved him ahead of Plante to become the Canadiens' most-used goaltender in franchise history.

This season, Price surpassed Roy for second all-time in wins on the Canadiens. He accomplished the feat in fitting fashion, stopping 33 pucks in a
3-0 shutout win over the Bruins in Boston on October 27
for the 290th victory of his career.
