MONTREAL - Forward Cole Caufield addressed the media on Friday to provide updates on his season-ending right shoulder injury.

Here is a brief summary from his press conference at the Bell Centre:
Caufield on how he injured his right shoulder and the decision to stop playing given the season the Canadiens are having:
This happened the first time before Christmas in Dallas, and I just had an awkward fall. I kind of put it back in myself a couple of seconds later and, you know, it wasn't too bad. The second time was in Nashville. The same thing kind of happened and that time was a little more painful, but our medical staff has done a great job of doing some rehab work on it and making me feel 100% in my opinion. For sure, if we were in a playoff spot, I'd put it out of my mind, and I'd still be playing. It really wasn't up to me to stop playing. But in the right circumstances, I feel like this is the best decision long-term and... It's hard to come to a conclusion that this is the best, but like I said it's about the long-term, and it'll all work out.

Caufield on when the surgery will take place:
It will happen pretty soon. We are figuring out the final details.
Caufield on how difficult it was to make the decision to end his season early:
It's tougher to leave your teammates and not be able to battle with them every night. It's tough watching from up top, I'm not going to lie. But yeah, I mean, it's for the best. I think the future down the road will be good and it'll all work out. For sure it's tough to end your season early.

Caufield on how certain he is about coming back at 100%:
I think the people who are looking after me have had guys do it in the past. They know how serious it is, how serious you have to take the rehab and all that, so I have the right people around me looking out for what's best for me, and I think having my trust in them, I know I can get back to 100% and I'm still going to be the player I am and hopefully a better one.
