The award is presented annually to the player who best exemplifies the qualities of perseverance, sportsmanship and dedication to hockey.
Perry, 35, has been a valuable addition to the team this season both on and off the ice.
The 16-year veteran has amassed 21 points (9 goals, 12 assists) in 48 games, while serving as a key mentor for his younger teammates as well.

With 1,092 games of NHL experience and a Stanley Cup title on his resume, among many other accomplishments, Perry is exceptionally well respected in the Habs' locker room.
The former Hart Trophy and Maurice "Rocket" Richard Trophy winner previously played for Anaheim and Dallas, before joining the Canadiens on a one-year contract on December 28.
Five Canadiens players have been awarded the Masterton Trophy since its inception, including Max Pacioretty (2011-12), Saku Koivu (2001-02), Serge Savard (1978-79), Henri Richard (1973-74) and Claude Provost (1967-68), who was the inaugural recipient.

Each of the 31 PHWA member chapters nominated a player from the 31 NHL clubs they cover.
Ballots will soon be distributed to all PHWA members to determine the winner, which will be unveiled at the 2021 NHL Awards.
