MONTREAL – The Canadiens announced on Tuesday night that defenseman David Savard would miss six to eight weeks of action due to a fracture to the left hand.
The Montreal blue-liner last played in Monday night’s 3-1 win over the Sabres in Buffalo.
Earlier in the day, the team had announced that Savard would be out indefinitely and recalled defenseman Gustav Lindstrom from the AHL’s Laval Rocket on an emergency basis.
Savard, 33, has played five games for the Canadiens this season, recording two assists and an even differential.
In 129 total games with the Habs, the St-Hyacinthe native has scored six goals and added 33 assists for 39 points. Savard joined the Canadiens as a free agent in July 2021.
