MONTREAL - Jake Allen was named the Canadiens' nominee for this year's King Clancy Memorial Trophy on Wednesday.

The award is presented to the player who best exemplifies leadership qualities on and off the ice and has made a noteworthy humanitarian contribution in his community.
Allen was one of 32 nominees selected League-wide by their respective NHL teams on Wednesday.

The second-year Canadiens goaltender earned the nod for his work both in his home province of New Brunswick as well as in the Montreal area.
In 2016, Allen and his wife Shannon founded Program 34, a non-profit organization aiming to support New Brunswick charities pursuing youth programming, community engagement and athletic recreation. Since its founding, Program 34 has raised $415,000 to eliminate barriers in youth sports participation and looks to surpass the $500,000 mark this summer.
Leading up to its marquee Jake Allen Classic golf tournament, Jake can notably be found in the Fredericton community hosting live Q&As with minor hockey organizations, as well as photo and autograph sessions.

Program 34 also works with the Chalmers Foundation, an organization that looks after patient and staff care at the local Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Through a yearly auction and raffle for a chance to "Skate with Jake," the organization has since raised money for a brand new outdoor pediatric playground, as well as state of the art digital mammography equipment.
Closer to home, Allen has likewise teamed up with the Montreal Canadiens Children's Foundation to assist in its goal to encourage physical activity and the adoption of a healthy lifestyle among underprivileged youth.
Continuing a tradition that he began with the St. Louis Blues, Allen auctioned off his game-worn mask in April, raising $15,035 for both the Canadiens foundation and Program 34. In Montreal, the funds donated will go towards allowing over 100 underprivileged youth to attend the team's BLEU BLANC BOUGE summer camp.

Earlier in the season meanwhile, the Allens helped make the holidays brighter for some by organizing a large donation of 300 blankets and team merchandise for seniors via a grassroots effort called Santa to a Senior Montreal.
Through his association with the NHLPA's Goals and Dreams program over the last five years, Allen has been able to donate 21 full sets of player and goalie gear to various minor hockey organizations.
The winner of the 2021-22 King Clancy Memorial Trophy will be announced later this summer, chosen by a committee of senior NHL executives led by Commissioner Gary Bettman and Deputy Commissioner Bill Daly based on a variety of criteria.
