MONTREAL -- Prospect Oliver Kapanen scored for Finland in a triumphant 9-3 win over Slovakia at the 2022 IIHF World Junior Championship on Sunday.

It was the 19-year-old forward's first goal of the tournament.
Kapanen registered Finland's sixth tally late in the second period.
He ultimately finished the contest with four shots on goal and a plus-1 differential in 15:47 of ice time.
Defenseman Petteri Nurmi didn't play.

The Finns currently sit second in the Group A standings with eight points, one point behind Canada.
The two teams will meet tonight at 6:00 p.m. ET to close out preliminary-round action.
Prospects Joshua Roy and Riley Kidney are both members of the Canadian contingent.

Mysak picks up point in Czechia defeat
Captain Jan Mysak assisted on a first-period goal by Michal Gut in Czechia's 5-2 defeat to Latvia.
It was Mysak's team-leading fifth point (3 goals, 2 assists) of the tournament.

The 20-year-old center also went 7-for-10 in the faceoff circle and registered three shots on goal to earn Best Player of the Game honors for Czechia.
Mysak was the most-utilized player by head coach Radim Rulik, logging 22:30 of ice time.
Czechia finished fourth in the Group A standings and will play the undefeated U.S. in the crossover quarterfinals on Wednesday.
