McNiven-EN-2

MONTREAL - The Canadiens announced on Wednesday that they've traded goaltender Michael McNiven to the Calgary Flames for future considerations.

McNiven, 24, appeared in one Canadiens game this season, replacing Cayden Primeau in the 8-2 loss to the Minnesota Wild on January 25. It was his first career NHL appearance.
A native of Winnipeg, McNiven has also played 11 games for the AHL's Laval Rocket in 2021-22, putting up a 4-4-1 record, 4.04 goals-against average, .869 save percentage, and one shutout.
In 82 career games with Laval from 2017-18 to 2021-22, McNiven has a 31-35-8 record, 3.00 goals-against average, .891 save percentage, and four shutouts.
Undrafted, McNiven signed with the Canadiens as a free agent in September 2015 after attending the Club's development camp that summer as a tryout.
