TEMPE – The Coyotes broke the deadlock at 6:07 of the third period and held on to down the Canadiens 3-2 at Mullett Arena on Thursday night.

Sean Monahan put the Canadiens on the board in the opening frame, finding the back of the net for a fourth consecutive game, and Brendan Gallagher had two-point night to earn his 400th NHL point.

Mike Matheson wired one off the crossbar in the final minute of the game, but that is as close as the Habs would come to levelling the score.

Jake Allen made 32 saves as he celebrated his 400th NHL game on Thursday. Fittingly, it was against the same team he recorded his first career shutout against in March 2013.

Tanner Pearson, who recorded an assist on Gallagher’s goal, also reached a milestone against the Yotes, playing in his 600th career outing.
