MONTREAL -- Jan Mysak scored in Czechia's 4-2 quarterfinal victory over the U.S. on Wednesday night at the 2022 IIHF World Junior Championship.

With the win, Mysak and company advanced to the semifinals against Canada on Friday at 4:00 p.m. ET.

The 20-year-old forward is enjoying an outstanding event thus far in Edmonton.
He leads Czechia in goals (4) and points (6) through five games, and boasts a plus-3 differential as well.

The Americans were undefeated heading into the matchup, while head coach Radim Rulik's squad had just one victory in preliminary-round action.
Czechia was also coming off a disappointing 5-2 loss to the Latvians.
"I think we learned a lesson against Latvia," said Mysak,
as reported by Andrew Podnieks of IIHF.com
. "We learned a lesson that they just wanted it more than us. So we lost. Today, we tried to do the same. We just wanted it more, and that's why we won. We just blocked the shots. We ate pucks, and we had success."

For his part, Joshua Roy was held pointless in Canada's 6-3 quarterfinal win over Switzerland. Riley Kidney didn't play.
Finland and Sweden will clash in the other semifinal on Friday at 8:00 p.m. ET.
