NCAA Roundup: Cayden Primeau, Jordan Harris shine for Northeastern

MONTREAL - Cayden Primeau enjoyed a memorable freshman campaign last season, and his sophomore year is off to a strong start as well.

The 19-year-old netminder - a seventh-round pick of the Canadiens, selected 199th overall in 2017 - backstopped the Northeastern University Huskies to a weekend sweep of the Sacred Heart University Pioneers, turning aside 49 of 51 shots against in two starts.
That included a 25-save shutout on Saturday night at Webster Bank Arena in Bridgeport, CT.

It was fellow Canadiens prospect Jordan Harris who registered the game-winning goal in Northeastern's second straight victory, opening the scoring and collecting his first career tally in the NCAA ranks.

The 18-year-old freshman defenseman, who was selected 71st overall in June, also added a pair of helpers over the weekend, too.
For his part, junior Ryan Poehling chipped in with three assists in St. Cloud State University's weekend sweep of the University of Alaska Nanooks in Fairbanks, AK.

Freshman forward Brett Stapley also amassed three points (1g, 2a) in two appearances for the University of Denver, helping the Pioneers start off their season with a pair of victories.

And, fellow freshman Jack Gorniak picked up his first career collegiate point - an assist - as the University of Wisconsin handed Boston College back-to-back defeats at the Kohl Center in Madison, WI.
