20180123-deslauriers-celebration-fall

MONTREAL -- Breakout success isn't without its pitfalls -- or its actual falls, for that matter.

Nicolas Deslauriers learned that the hard way on Tuesday after he took a tumble into the boards while celebrating the Canadiens' opening goal against Colorado -- his career-high seventh of the season.

The 26-year-old forward raced to celebrate in the corner with his teammates after lighting the lamp, but fell over backwards following an over-enthusiastic fist pump. And his teammates never joined him for the trip, either.
"I get really over-emotional when I score, but it felt kind of weird being on the ice by myself, so I tried to get up as fast as possible. If I score another one, I'm going to tone it down a bit," cracked Deslauriers, who while tasked with bringing energy to the ice, has also brought it after every goal. "I'm just happy Jonathan Drouin didn't see it, but I know he's going to search for it to make fun of me."

You're welcome, Jo.
