MONTREAL – The Canadiens are back at the Bell Centre to welcome the New Jersey Devils in the second game of their back-to-back on Tuesday.

Here’s what you need to know heading into the game:

1. The Habs picked up their second straight win on Monday night, defeating the Sabres 3-1 in Buffalo. Justin Barron opened the scoring in the first period for the visitors, netting his first of the season. Then, in the third, Brendan Gallagher and Tanner Pearson propelled the Canadiens to victory, scoring the go-ahead goal and insurance marker, respectively. Jake Allen had an effective night at the office, stopping 36 shots in the Montreal crease.

2. Having returned home late night following the Buffalo game, the Habs won’t hold a morning skate before the Devils game. We’ll have to wait until head coach Martin St-Louis' pregame press conference to find out about any lineup changes.

3. At the other end of the ice, Lindy Ruff’s squad is having a similar start to its season as the Canadiens; New Jersey heads into Tuesday’s game with a 2-1-1 record. Montreal will have to keep an eye on several Devils stars such as Jack Hughes, who has already put up 10 points (4G, 6A) in four contests. The Devils, including former Canadiens Tyler Toffoli and Chris Tierney, arrive in the 514 after enjoying a few days off following their 5-4 overtime win over the New York Islanders on Friday.

4. The Canadiens are now beginning a three-game homestand to close out the month of October. After the Devils tilt, they’ll face the Columbus Blue Jackets and Winnipeg Jets on Thursday and Saturday, respectively, before heading out on their next trip on October 29. Cole Caufield, Sean Monahan, and newcomer Tanner Pearson sit atop the Canadiens’ points list with five each in as many games. Alex Newhook has also looked good in his new threads, earning three markers and one helper so far with Montreal.
