MONTREAL - Montreal Canadiens general manager Marc Bergevin announced on Friday that the team has agreed to terms with goaltender Michael McNiven on a one-year, two-way contract extension. The deal, which will pay McNiven $750,000 in the NHL and $100,000 in the AHL, includes a guaranteed salary of $110,000.

McNiven played 13 games in the AHL with the Laval Rocket in 2020-21, posting a 7-3-3 record while earning one shutout. The 24-year-old netminder posted a 2.59 GAA and a .895 SV% in his fourth season with Laval.
McNiven, a Winnipeg, MB native, has earned 27 wins, 31 losses and seven overtime losses in 71 AHL career games since making his professional debut in 2017-18. The 6'1'' and 202 lbs goaltender has also registered three career shutouts in the American Hockey League.
McNiven joined the Canadiens organization as a free agent in 2015.
