MONTREAL -- Montreal Canadiens general manager Kent Hughes announced on Monday that the team has agreed to terms with forward Michael Pezzetta on a one-year, one-way contract extension that will see him earn $750,000.

Pezzetta played 51 games with the Canadiens in 2021-22, registering 11 points (5 goals, 6 assists). The 24-year-old led the team with 81 penalty minutes. Pezzetta skated in his first career NHL game on November 2 vs. Detroit and scored his first career goal on November 14 in Boston.
The Toronto, ON native also dressed in eight games with the Laval Rocket in the AHL last season, amassing three goals and three assists, in addition to serving 16 penalty minutes.
The 6'1'' and 216 lbs winger has 13 goals and 12 assists in 115 career AHL games, all with the Rocket.
Pezzetta was selected in the sixth round by the Canadiens (160th overall) at the 2016 NHL Draft.
