WINNIPEG - The Canadiens staged a comeback in the third period on Wednesday night before falling 4-3 to the Jets in overtime at Bell MTS Place.

The Habs closed out their six-game road trip with their sixth matchup of the season against Winnipeg.

It was a milestone night for Nick Suzuki, who suited up for the 100th game of his NHL career.

Montreal didn't get off to a good start. The Jets took the lead just 50 seconds into the first period.
Captain Blake Wheeler beat goaltender Carey Price with a shot from the top of the circle for his eighth goal of the year.

Winnipeg went ahead by two with 4:14 left in the opening frame. Left-winger Kyle Connor capitalized on a Canadiens turnover in the defensive zone, sliding the puck into an empty net after Price came into contact with defenseman Xavier Ouellet.

It was Connor's fifth goal of the season against Montreal and his 15th of the year.
The Canadiens trailed 2-0 after 20 minutes.
Montreal responded early in the middle stanza when Phillip Danault capped a 2-on-1 with his second goal of the season.

Brendan Gallagher and Tomas Tatar collected the assists on Danault's tally at the 1:26 mark of the period.
The Jets re-established their two-goal advantage with 6:18 remaining in the period. Once again, Paul Maurice's contingent capitalized on a Canadiens turnover in the defensive zone.
Connor jumped on a rebound off a shot from Pierre-Luc Dubois to register his second tally of the night which put Winnipeg up 3-1.

It was the Shelby Township, MI native's fourth goal in five periods versus Montreal.
That's the way things stood after 40 minutes.
The Canadiens responded at the 5:58 mark of the third period when Gallagher jumped on a loose puck off a faceoff and beat goaltender Connor Hellebuyck five-hole.

It was Gallagher's 11th goal of the season, snapping a five-game goal drought in the process.
Danault collected the lone assist on the play.
Winger Tyler Toffoli tied things up 3-3 with 1:25 remaining in regulation.
The 28-year-old forward buried a perfect feed from Corey Perry for his 18th goal of the season.

Jonathan Drouin also collected an assist on the play.
That sent the game to overtime, where Nikolaj Ehlers scored the winner for Winnipeg.
Price finished the contest with 26 saves.
The Canadiens will be back in action on Friday night when they play host to the Vancouver Canucks at the Bell Centre.
It will be the first of six consecutive home games for the Habs.
