TAMPA - The Lightning edged the Canadiens 1-0 on Wednesday night at AMALIE Arena to win the Stanley Cup.

Jon Cooper's sqaud won the Final in five games over Montreal.
Even though they were in enemy territory, the Canadiens still had the support of their faithful fans in the building.
That was also the case at the Bell Centre, where 3,500 fans gathered to watch Game 5 on the jumbotron.

Interim head coach Dominique Ducharme didn't make any lineup changes as Montreal faced elimination for a second straight game.
That meant that forward Jesperi Kotkaniemi was a healthy scratch again, along with defensemen Erik Gustafsson and Jon Merrill.

The Canadiens were trying to hand the Lightning consecutive playoff losses for the first time since Tampa Bay's first-round series versus Columbus in 2019.

There were no goals to report in the first period. Tampa Bay outshot Montreal 13-4.
The Lightning finally opened the scoring with 6:33 remaining in the second period.
Defenseman David Savard served up a perfect tape-to-tape feed to Ross Colton, who beat a helpless Carey Price.

It was Colton's fourth goal of the playoffs.
Defenseman Ryan McDonagh also assisted on the tally.
Tampa Bay led 1-0 after 40 minutes. Cooper's contingent was leading 19-14 in shots as well.
Price was sharp early in the third period, denying winger Ondrej Palat with a pad stop to keep things close.

Colton scored the lone goal of the game.
Lightning goaltender Andrei Vasilevskiy made 22 saves to register the shutout.
For his part, Price made 29 saves in the loss.
The Lightning won their second straight Stanley Cup.
