WINNIPEG - The Canadiens picked up a point in the final contest of their four-game road trip, but lost 3-2 to the Jets in overtime on Thursday.

Joel Edmundson returned to the lineup on Thursday, making his season debut after missing the first 10 games of the season. He dressed in place of Chris Wideman.

Sam Montembeault made his fourth start of the campaign.
Nick Suzuki opened the scoring thanks to a beautiful backhand pass from Cole Caufield at the Jets' blue line. Suzuki drove the puck into the zone and lifted it in from in-close and past Jets starter Connor Hellebuyck for his sixth of the season.
Caufield and David Savard earned assists.

The Jets evened things up with a power play goal with 2:32 remaining in the opening frame. With Rem Pitlick in the box for hooking, Pierre-Luc Dubois tallied with a wrister from the faceoff dot that beat Montembeault glove-side.
After 20 minutes, the score was tied at 1-1 with Winnipeg holding a 10-6 edge in shots.
The Habs went up again early in the second when the rebound Suzuki's wrister trickled across the crease, where Kirby Dach was waiting to bury it for his second of the season.
Suzuki and Caufield picked up assists on the play. It was Suzuki's sixth point in three games, while Caufield also picked up his sixth point of the road trip with the helper.

However, Winnipeg was quick to reply, with Dubois' one-timer stuck in the crease between Montembeault's legs before Blake Wheeler sent it home to make it a 2-2 game.
That's where things would stand after two periods of play, with the Jets outshooting the Habs 12-11 in the second stanza.
In the third, Winnipeg outshot Montreal 11-4 but neither team was able to light the lamp, so the game would be decided in extra time.
Kyle Connor sealed the deal for the home squad at 1:45 of overtime.
Montembeault made 33 saves in the game.
The Canadiens departed for Montreal immediately after the game. Their next contest is back at the Bell Centre on Saturday night, when the Vegas Golden Knights come to town. For tickets to the game,
