TAMPA -- The Canadiens closed out their road trip in style with a 5-4 shootout victory over the Lightning at Amalie Arena.

It was a special night for Jordan Harris, who made his NHL debut.
The 21-year-old defenseman played four seasons at Northeastern University before signing a two-year, entry-level contract with Montreal last weekend.

Harris, who was a third-round pick in 2018, enjoyed the traditional solo warmup lap.
He was all smiles for the once-in-a-lifetime experience.

It was also a special night for Patrick Langlois, the longtime assistant to head equipment manager, Pierre Gervais.
Langlois worked his 2,500th career game in the professional ranks.

Unfortunately, the Canadiens didn't start strong against the two-time defending Stanley Cup champions.
Steven Stamkos and Anthony Cirelli paced the Lightning to a 2-0 lead after 20 minutes.
Cirelli's goal on Jake Allen was short-handed.
Five goals were scored during a wild second period.
Cole Caufield kicked things off with his 15th goal of the season, capping a rush with Rem Pitlick by lighting the lamp behind Brian Elliott.

Nikita Kucherov responded on the power play to restore the Lightning's two-goal advantage, but that didn't deter Martin St-Louis' troops.
Corey Schueneman scored his second goal of the year, beating Elliott with a point shot.
Nick Suzuki collected the lone assist on the play.

Then, Josh Anderson tied things up with a breakaway beauty.
His 17th goal of the season was assisted by Mike Hoffman.

Brayden Point scored a power play goal with 16 seconds left in the frame to put the Lightning up 4-3 after 40 minutes.
Jesse Ylonen netted the equalizer just 2:18 into the final frame for his second goal of the campaign.
Ryan Poehling and Tyler Pitlick were credited with helpers. That was Pitlick's first point with the Canadiens.
It was 4-4 after 60 minutes, so overtime was required.
The extra frame settled nothing, so the contest needed a shootout.
Suzuki scored the game-winner with a slick move on Elliott.

Allen finished the game with 37 saves on 41 shots.
Up next for the Canadiens is a matchup against the Senators on Tuesday night at the Bell Centre.
Puck drop is 7:00 p.m. ET.
