DETROIT - Here are a few key storylines from Tuesday night's 4-3 loss to the Red Wings at Little Caesars Arena.

"It's unacceptable"
As expected, there was some serious frustration in the Canadiens' dressing room following the loss to Detroit.
Claude Julien's squad let a 3-1 lead slip away by giving up three straight goals in the third period en route to a 4-3 defeat.
It was Montreal's fifth straight loss. Julien's group was also swept by the Red Wings this season.
The veteran bench boss wasn't at all pleased with the way things played out in the end.
"We can't seem to play a good game for a full 60 minutes. It's frustrating and it's unacceptable. If you want to be a winning team, you have to be able to play the same way for 60 minutes. We haven't been doing that lately," said Julien during his postgame press conference. "If we keep on playing the same way we played during the first two periods, we'll win the game. But we weren't able to do that."

Julien wasn't done there, though.
"There's clearly a lack of confidence. Regardless of what we say on the bench, we seem to be playing on our heels. We watch the other team skate instead of being proactive," added Julien. "We have to get more from certain players."
Paul Byron, who was playing his first game since November 15, knows full well that dropping four games to Detroit this season has hurt the club in a big way.

"It's one of the reasons why we're not in the playoff picture. We're 10 points out and we lost four games against Detroit," explained Byron, who picked up an assist on Nate Thompson's goal. "It's not a good feeling. I don't really have any other words to describe it."

It marked the second straight game in which the Canadiens couldn't maintain a lead and ended up coming out on the wrong side of the scoresheet.
That simply isn't good enough, according to captain Shea Weber.
"We can't play with a lead. It's happened a lot. We have to find a way because this isn't working," mentioned Weber, was logged 21:50 of ice time in his return to the lineup.

The power play clicks
Prior to the game against the Red Wings, the Canadiens scored just one goal in their previous 14 chances on the power play.
But they scored twice with the man advantage versus Detroit.
First up, Jeff Petry registered his ninth goal of the season late in the opening frame.

Then, Nick Suzuki capped a perfect feed from Jordan Weal with his 13th goal of the year.

It was the fifth time this season that Julien's troops managed to score two power-play goals in the same game.
The last time they accomplished that feat was back on December 29, 2019 against the Florida Panthers.
Next stop: Washington
The Canadiens will play their next game on Thursday night against the Capitals in Washington.
They'll close out their three-game road trip on Saturday night against the Senators in Ottawa.
