DETROIT - The Canadiens could not complete the season sweep of the Red Wings on Saturday, dropping a 3-2 decision in OT.

It was the final meeting between the two teams this season, and the first at Little Caesars Arena. Montreal won the first two games 6-1 and 3-0 at the Bell Centre.
Ryan Poehling opened the scoring in the Original 6 matchup, beating Alex Nedeljkovic at 4:39 for the period's only goal. It was Poehling's first goal of the season with the Habs after being called up from Laval on Thursday.

Former Rocket teammate Michael Pezzetta notably earned an assist on the play - his first in the NHL.
Late in the frame, a collision between Dylan Larkin and Jake Allen saw the Canadiens netminder leave the ice and not return.
Sam Montembeault took his spot in the crease.
The Red Wings jumped ahead in the second, scoring on their first two shots of the period.
Larkin and Pius Suter tallied 45 seconds apart to make it 2-1.
Montembeault made 12 saves in the frame to keep the game within one.
Chris Wideman found the equalizer early in the third, burying an impressive no-look pass from Artturi Lehkonen to make it 2-2.

Montembeault stopped all 10 shots he faced through the final 20 to necessitate overtime.
But the Habs could not complete the comeback, as Larkin scored his second of the night 1:41 into the extra frame to end it 3-2.
The Canadiens will be back in action on Sunday, when they visit the Bruins at 7:00 p.m.
