Following the contest, defenseman Shea Weber, goaltender Jake Allen, forward Phillip Danault and interim head coach Dominique Ducharme spoke with reporters via Zoom.
Here are a few highlights from their respective chats:
Weber on a tough start to the game and a disappointing first period:
We did it to ourselves with mental errors, especially early. I don't think it was a lack of effort. I just think we made some mistakes and the mistakes were big. Those are chances that we can't give up.

Shea Weber on the Habs' mental mistakes

Weber on mental mistakes that are proving costly:
We're shooting ourselves in the foot. Those are things that can't happen. We knew we were playing back-to-back with travel. Whatever excuses you want to make, it's not an excuse. We're professionals. We've got to be ready to play. We can't make those mistakes because a team like this will make you pay. They did that and we just couldn't fight out of that hole.

Allen on surrendering three goals in the opening frame:
You've got to give your team a chance. I have very high expectations of myself all the time. No matter what, I always think there should be a way to stop the puck. I was definitely happy with the way I competed the rest of the game, but I was disappointed in my first period, no question.

Jake Allen on the loss to the Jets

Allen on the Habs giving up early goals in two straight games:
We've just got to be sharper to start. All of us, from myself, out. That's basically what it comes down to, just being on our toes. Two teams jumped right on top of us with good pressure and good chances, and we need to find a way to get into games and be on the other side. But, the guys battled right back and got a goal right away both games, so credit to them.

Danault on another poor beginning shortly after puck drop:
It happens. It's two games in a row now. We really have to learn from something like this and forget about it. The first shift will be very important next game. Our starts have cost us the last two games.

Danault on the goals against early in the game

Danault on the play of Jets goaltender Connor Hellebuyck:
I thought we were really hungry around the net. He played a good game. We can always go to the net more and get in his face more, but I think we did good work. He made some big saves.

Ducharme on the Canadiens' performance versus Winnipeg:
If we remove the three gifts that we gave up in the first period, we didn't play a bad game. It's tough to have success in this League, especially when you give up three gifts to start.

Dominique Ducharme on the errors in the first period

Ducharme on switching Josh Anderson and Tyler Toffoli in the third period:
I didn't dislike it. At the same time, we were looking to create a spark. We had a lot of scoring chances tonight, but we didn't manage to tie it up. I think we could've done it. We'll spend some time watching the film to see what we can do next game.
