MONTREAL - The Canadiens registered a 4-2 victory over the Maple Leafs on Monday night at the Bell Centre.

Following the game, forwards Josh Anderson and Phillip Danault, goaltender Jake Allen, and interim head coach Dominique Ducharme spoke with reporters via Zoom.
Here are a few highlights from their respective chats:
Anderson on the significance of the win over Toronto:
Tonight was very important, especially from the last game. It wasn't fair that Jake Allen went through that really by himself. He was outstanding and we really wanted to come in tonight, set the pace, and start the first period the right way. I thought we did that. Obviously, they made a good push in the second, but I thought that we did a lot of good things tonight.

Anderson on the victory helping to build confidence:
We've been right there every game that we've played them. Anytime you play the Leafs, you get up for these games. They're always big games to play. I think we all had confidence going into tonight's game. After losing three, we wanted to come out and play with full energy. I thought we did a pretty good job of that tonight and set the pace of the game. They're a really good team over there, but there's going to be a lot of battles like this coming next.

Danault on righting the ship after losing three straight:
It was important to rebound. We showed a lot of character tonight. I thought we were a bit hesitant in the second period, but we figured things out and won our battles. It's a big character win for our team. Jake made big saves for us. He gave us a chance to win.

Danault on Anderson's goal in the second period, which proved to be the game-winner:
Andy used his speed. He'd already had a lot of shots during the game. It was just a matter of time before he scored. He showed a lot of character, and that goal gave us wings for the third period.

Allen on Danault going up against top players night after night:
It's not an easy job. It's a job that I don't think too many people would want to have, to go head-to-head against the best players in the League every single night. But, Phil welcomes it. I think that's what you have to do, you have to embrace that role, and he does. You take pride in just limiting their chances and shutting them down. Maybe Phil doesn't get the offensive chances because he has to worry so much about playing defense against these top dogs, and that's not his fault. He's going out there, doing his job, and laying it on the line every night. To me, that's one of the hardest jobs in the NHL. Kudos to him for having to do it every single night, and he does it very well.

Allen on how he's feeling with a heavy workload:
I've played a lot of hockey over my career. I was a starter for a while. This is nothing new to me. We need Pricer to come back when he's ready to come back, be healthy, ready to perform and be the best he can be. Whenever he's ready, I'll be here to fill the gap until then. It's nothing new for me, just one day at a time, one practice, one game at a time, and welcome him back with open arms.

Ducharme on the performance of his group:
It's a huge win. If we look at our game in Toronto, it was the exact opposite. We had an ordinary first period and a very good second period. Tonight, I really liked our first period and the way we managed the third. We expected a push from them in the second. They outplayed us in the period, but I really liked the way we came back in the third.

Ducharme on Danault's effort against the Maple Leafs:
Phil is a complete player. He skates well. He's good in the faceoff circle, too. That definitely makes it tougher on opposing players. Phil thinks the game well and reads the game well in key situations. He looks at it as a challenge. I think it brings out the best in him. He had a solid game.
