Petry: 'Our group has to just rally together'

MONTREAL - The Canadiens were dealt a 4-0 loss by the Maple Leafs on Tuesday night at the Bell Centre, and they now trail their first-round series 3-1.

Following the game, forwards Joel Armia and Phillip Danault, defenseman Jeff Petry and interim head coach Dominique Ducharme spoke with reporters via Zoom.

Armia on why goals have been hard to come by against the Maple Leafs:
We created chances in the game to score goals, but they just didn't go in. We just have to focus on ourselves and put the puck in the net.

Armia on the mood in the dressing room with the Canadiens facing elimination:
We just need to forget about this one quickly. It's not over yet. I feel like we have a good atmosphere in the locker room. Everybody knows that it's not over. We're going to work hard next game.
Danault on the team's third straight playoff defeat:
We're disappointed and frustrated. That's hockey. It's a part of the playoffs. We have to move on to the next game immediately.

Danault on being on the brink of elimination:
We have to take things one game at a time. We're motivated. We want to win to come back here and play Game 6 in front of our fans. We need a good game. We have to play with a lot of emotion in Toronto. We have to win to come back home.
Petry on why generating offense has been especially tough in this series:
We've got to find a way to get to the inside. A lot of our shots are coming from the outside. Campbell's sucking up the puck and not allowing a rebound. We've got to find a way to get in his eyes, get tips, get some sort of greasy goals to get us going.

Petry on his faith in the Canadiens' ability to fight back in Game 5:
We've all gone through a lot of this year, whether it's injuries or tough stretches throughout the season, and we've found a way to get out of them. This is no different. Our group has to just rally together, believe in each other, believe in ourselves and take it one game at a time, one period at a time. It's not going to happen in the first five minutes of the next game. It's going to take a full 60 minutes. We have to be prepared to put in the effort because we're playing like it's our last game. We just have to regroup and make sure that we're all on the same page, all believing in each other and believing in ourselves.
Ducharme on finding a solution to get the offense going:
We're looking at all the details in every situation, whether it's 5-on-5 or on the power play. We created good chances on the power play, even if we didn't score. We just aren't burying our chances. We just have to put the puck in the net.

Ducharme on battling back from a 3-1 series deficit:
If you aren't a competitor, you aren't in the right place. We're heading to Toronto to win. We're going to Toronto to win the next game and come back here to play Game 6 in front of our fans.
