MONTREAL - The Canadiens suffered their second straight defeat, falling 3-0 to the Edmonton Oilers on Thursday night.

It was the second of six Adidas Reverse Retro games presented by RONA at the Bell Centre.
The Canadiens were sporting their blue alternate jerseys again.

Goaltender Jake Allen got the start for the Habs. It was his sixth start of the season. He won his previous start on February 6 in Ottawa.

The Oilers got on the scoreboard at the 8:27 mark of the first period.
Forward Josh Archibald capitalized on a 2-on-1 to feed Jujhar Khaira who gave Edmonton a 1-0 lead.

It was just the third time this season that Montreal allowed the opening goal of the game.
The Oilers headed to the locker room in front by one. For their part, the Habs held an 11-9 advantage in the shots department.
Dave Tippett's squad doubled their lead with only 1:27 elapsed in the middle frame.
Captain Shea Weber attempted to clear a rebound off a shot from Darnell Nurse, but the puck deflected off Phillip Danault before ending up behind Allen.

Edmonton led 2-0 after 40 minutes, while Montreal was ahead 24-21 in shots.
Defenseman Tyson Barrie scored the Oilers' third goal just 4:44 into the third period.
Barrie's point blast got the best of Allen. It was a power play tally.

This was the second time the Canadiens were shut out this year.
Montreal fired 38 shots on Oilers goaltender Mike Smith.
Allen made 28 saves in the loss.
The Habs will be back in action on Saturday night against the Toronto Maple Leafs at Scotiabank Arena.
