MONTREAL - The Canadiens picked up their second win of the season in dramatic come-from-behind fashion on Monday, beating the Pittsburgh Penguins 3-2 in overtime at the Bell Centre.

With Jake Allen absent on a parental leave, Sam Montembeault got the start in goal. Cayden Primeau, who was recalled from the Laval Rocket earlier in the day, served as backup.
The game was a homecoming for a pair of former Habs, as defenseman Jeff Petry and forward Ryan Poehling were returning to the Bell Centre for the first time since getting dealt to Pittsburgh in the summer.

Early in the first, the Penguins thought they had opened the scoring but, following video review, it was determined the puck had not crossed the goal line.
Neither team would get on the board in the opening frame. Montembeault was sharp, turning aside all six shots he faced, and the Habs outshot the Pens 11-6 in the period.

Pittsburgh took the lead for real early in the second period when Evgeni Malkin wired a one-timer from the low circle to Montembeault's left to make it 1-0.
Malkin scored again near the halfway mark of the period when he tapped in a centering pass from Bryan Rust from in close.
After 40 minutes of play, the Penguins were up 2-0. Pittsburgh outshot Montreal 15-14 in the second.
Captain Nick Suzuki got the Habs on the board early in the third period. When his wrister from the faceoff circle to Casey DeSmith's right hit the post and trickled across the crease, Suzuki skated behind the net and backhanded it in for his second of the season.
Kaiden Guhle picked up his first NHL point with an assist on the play, while Mike Hoffman earned the other helper.

With under three minutes to go in regulation, the Habs pulled Montembeault in favor of an extra attacker and the decision paid off, as Caufield one-timed a pass from Jonathan Drouin near the front of DeSmith's crease to tie the game.
Guhle got the other assist on the goal - his second of the evening.

The two teams would need overtime to decide this one and, with Petry in the box for cross-checking, Sean Monahan went for a little skate around the Penguins' zone before sending the puck cross-ice to a waiting Kirby Dach, who tapped it in for his first goal in bleu-blanc-rouge.
Suzuki earned the other assist on the play.

Montembeault made 26 saves for his first win of the season.
