MONTREAL -- The Canadiens were dealt a 6-0 loss by the Penguins on Thursday night at the Bell Centre.

It was a special night for defenseman Mattias Norlinder, who made his NHL debut.
The 21-year-old Swede enjoyed the traditional solo warmup lap to mark the occasion.

Norlinder was paired with veteran David Savard.
Right-winger Cole Caufield also returned to the lineup after a six-game stint with the AHL's Laval Rocket and skated with Tyler Toffoli and Nick Suzuki.

Shortly before puck drop, the Habs paid tribute to newly inducted Hall of Famer Kim St-Pierre.
The three-time Olympic gold medallist and five-time IIHF world champion was greeted with a wonderful applause.

The Penguins opened the scoring at the 3:36 mark of the first period courtesy of captain Sidney Crosby, who capped a three-way passing play with his first goal of the season past goaltender Cayden Primeau.
Jake Guentzel and Bryan Rust assisted on the tally.
The Penguins doubled their lead nine minutes later when Danton Heinen buried a loose puck in the slot for his fifth goal of the campaign.
John Marino and Kasperi Kapanen were credited with assists.
Guentzel added another goal for the visitors with 47 seconds left before the break.
His sixth goal of the season was assisted by Rust and Kristopher Letang.
The Penguins led 3-0 after 20 minutes.
Mike Sullivan's squad didn't let up in the second period.
Teddy Blueger and Mike Matheson scored to up Pittsburgh's lead to 5-0.
That's the way things stood after 40 minutes.
Samuel Montembeault replaced Primeau to start the third period.
Primeau exited the contest with 26 saves on 31 shots.

Blueger capped the scoring for the Penguins with a breakaway goal in the final seconds of regulation.
