MONTREAL - A return to the Bell Centre was not enough to get the Canadiens back in the win column on Saturday, as the team fell 6-4 to the red-hot Vegas Golden Knights.

The Habs were back home for the first time since embarking on a nine-day, four-game road trip in late October.

Prior to getting things underway, Nick Suzuki and Cole Caufield were presented as the co-winners of the Molson Cup for October.

Josh Anderson and Joel Armia meanwhile hit the ice for the 400th NHL game of their respective careers.
Following puck drop, it was the visitors who got on the board first. Nicolas Hague ripped a shot from the point at 13:25 to open the scoring.
But Cole Caufield rode his Molson Cup winning form into the new month, sniping a cross-ice pass from Kirby Dach past Adin Hill just 51 seconds later for the equalizer.

Back for the second and Vegas once again drew first blood. Reilly Smith took a backhanded pass from William Karlsson to make it 2-1 at 2:24. It was the only goal in a frame which saw Vegas hold a 16-8 edge in shots.
Caufield's co-titleholder Nick Suzuki tied the game back up to open the scoring in what would become a wild seven-goal final frame. Suzuki found the back of the net off a 3-on-1 just 56 seconds into the period.

Vegas replied to Montreal's equalizer with three unanswered goals over a span of 3:50, courtesy of Smith, Keegan Kolesar, and Nicolas Roy to jump ahead 5-2.
Less than two minutes later, the Canadiens captain found the back of the net a second time, this time on the power play, to make it a 5-3 game at 10:21.

Jonathan Marchessault restored the three-goal lead for Vegas with his sixth of the season at 13:16.
Fighting until the end, Juraj Slafkovsky potted a late marker to end things 6-4.

The Canadiens will be back in action on Tuesday when they take on the Red Wings in Detroit.
