St-Louis confirmed a few lineup changes during his pregame media op on Saturday, notably that Tyler Pitlick will be back in action in place of Paul Byron and Samuel Montembeault will get the start against the Caps.
The Caps are riding into town with a stellar record of five wins and one loss in their last six games, having dropped their most recent outing in a 7-3 L to the Maple Leafs on Thursday night.
John Carlson, Tom Wilson, and Nic Dowd scored in the loss to the Buds, while Michael Bunting, William Nylander, Ilya Mikheyev and Ilya Lyubushkin lit the lamp for the Leafs.
Ilya Samsonov stopped 15 of the 19 shots he faced before being replaced between the pipes by Vitek Vanecek in the second period. Vanecek made 10 saves during his night's work.
The Canadiens will need to keep an eye on a few key Washington snipers on Saturday, including Alexander Ovechkin, who could very well finish the season with 50 or more goals for a ninth time in his career. The Caps' captain has 46 goals and 39 assists to date, giving him the team lead with 85 points.
Evgeny Kuznetsov, John Carlson, and Tom Wilson trail Ovechkin in that category with 72, 66, and 52 points, respectively.
The Capitals will be without the services of Carl Hagelin, who suffered an eye injury at the beginning of March. Joe Snively (upper body) and Dmitry Orlov (lower body) will also be sidelined on Saturday.
Washington is currently sitting in the final wildcard position in the East with 92 points, far ahead of the Islanders who trail them with 79 points.
The Caps won the most recent game against Montreal with a 5-2 victory over the Habs on February 10.
