The Canadiens announced prior to the skate that defenseman Jeff Petry would be out indefinitely with a lower-body injury. In his place, William Lagesson - acquired from Edmonton at the trade deadline in exchange for Brett Kulak - should be making his Canadiens debut on Saturday.
Also on the shelf are Jonathan Drouin, Brendan Gallagher, and Ryan Poehling, who will not be joining the Habs when they depart postgame for their four-game road trip starting in New Jersey.
Carey Price also remains at home as he recovers from a non-COVID-19 related illness.
