Here's what you need to know heading into puck drop.
1. Saturday's game is the second half of a back-to-back on the road. The Canadiens were blanked 3-0 in Detroit on Friday and will be looking to head home with the remaining two points in the bank. A season ago, Montreal held a 4-7-2 record in the second game of back-to-backs.

MTL Recap: Allen allows 1 goal in 1st defeat of year

  1. Friday's contest was closer than the scoreline would suggest. Jake Allen impressed, stopping 37 of the 38 shots he faced - including 25 in the opening frame - to keep things within one until the game's final minute. The Canadiens tested Red Wings netminder Ville Husso 29 times but could not find the back of the net. Detroit added two empty netters in the final 61 seconds of regulation to put the game out of reach.
  1. With two games in as many nights, the Canadiens will not hold a morning skate in Washington. Head coach Martin St-Louis will address the media closer to puck drop to share any potential changes to his lineup. Fans can watch the pregame press conference live by following the team on

4. At the other end of the ice is a Capitals team still looking for a first win this season; the 0-2 start is Washington's first since 2012-13. The Caps fell 5-2 in their home opener against Boston on Wednesday before dropping a 3-2 decision in Toronto on Thursday. Through two games, Washington's top three scorers from a year ago - Alexander Ovechkin, Evgeny Kuznetsov and John Carlson - have yet to get on the scoresheet. The trio each registered 70-plus points a season ago and will be players to watch on Saturday. The Caps count two former Habs on their roster in Lars Eller and Charlie Lindgren.
