OTT@MTL: What you need to know

MONTREAL - The Canadiens are looking to avenge their loss in Ottawa over the weekend as they face the Senators in a re-match at the Bell Centre on Tuesday.

Here's everything you need to know heading into the game:
1. After a scoreless first period at the Canadian Tire Centre on Saturday, Alex DeBrincat opened the scoring against Montreal 22 seconds into the middle frame. Claude Giroux enjoyed a two-goal effort in the same period, while Mathieu Joseph and Derrick Brassard lit the lamp in the third period to give the Sens a 5-0 victory over the Habs. It was not the result Owen Beck would've hoped for in his NHL debut, after the 18-year-old forward was recalled from the OHL's Peterborough Petes on an emergency basis. Beck was returned to the Petes following the game. Sam Montembeault made 31 saves in the loss.

2. The Canadiens practiced on Monday, but were without forwards Kirby Dach, Evgenii Dadonov, and Christian Dvorak, who missed the skate for treatments. With a number of players already on injured reserve and Beck back in Junior, we'll have to wait until game day to see how the Montreal lineup shapes up. One thing we do know, however, is that Jake Allen will be between the pipes on Tuesday after head coach Martin St-Louis confirmed his starter in his post-practice media op the day before.

3. Meanwhile, Saturday's victory was a third straight for the Senators. It was also their fourth straight win against the Canadiens dating back to last season. Goaltender Anton Forsberg, who made 28 saves in his successful shutout bid, won his second game in two nights against Montreal after backstopping his team to a 6-2 win over the Toronto Maple Leafs on Friday. Giroux was named the NHL's First Star of the Week on Monday in recognition of his four goals and seven points last week. His 47 points this season rank him second on the team behind Brady Tkachuk (49). Tim Stützle is third with 45, and is also the team leader in goals with 20.
4. Ottawa has won both games of the season series so far, first beating Montreal 3-2 at home on December 14. The final meeting between the two teams takes place on February 25 at the Bell Centre.
