Sean Farrell named to Team USA's Olympic roster

MONTREAL - Despite the NHL's decision to not send its players to the Olympic Games in Beijing next month, Canadiens fans will be able to follow at least one member of the organization in the prestigious tournament.

Prospect Sean Farrell has been called upon to wear his country's colors in the upcoming Games, after USA Hockey unveiled its 25-man Olympic roster on Thursday evening.

The native of Hopkinton, MA is eligible to play in this year's Olympics because he isn't signed to an NHL contract and is currently playing collegiate hockey.
Farrell, a fourth-round pick in 2020, is in his first season in the NCAA with Harvard University following his record-breaking 2020-21 campaign in the USHL, in which he put up 101 points (29G, 72A) in 53 games en route to being named that league's Player of the Year.
He has 19 points (8G, 11A) in 13 games this season with the Crimson, who play in the NCAA's ECAC conference.
The Olympic men's hockey tournament begins on February 9 in Beijing.
