MONTREAL – The Canadiens returned home from a five-game road trip and kept up their winning ways, beating the Philadelphia Flyers 4-1 at the Bell Centre on Thursday night.
Nick Suzuki opened the scoring with a power play goal midway through the period, his 30th of the season. It was the first time the captain hit the milestone in his NHL career. It was also Suzuki’s 10th power-play goal of the season; the last time a member of the Canadiens had as many goals with the man advantage was in 2016-17 (Shea Weber).
With an assist on the goal, Juraj Slafkovsky extended his point streak to nine games. According to NHL PR, the streak is tied for third-longest for a teenager born outside of North America in NHL history.
Mike Matheson enjoyed a three-assist night, helping him reach the 50-point plateau for the first time in his career.
The Flyers ended Cayden Primeau’s shutout bid with just over one minute remaining in the game. Primeau made 29 saves in the win.
