The 52-year-old Kingston, ON native is currently in his third stint with the Habs, having previously sported the CH as a player between 1991 and 1995 before serving as an assistant coach from 2006 to 2011.
In his five seasons as an assistant coach with the Canadiens, he helped the team to four consecutive playoff appearances, including in 2010, when the club reached the Eastern Conference Finals for the first time since 1993.
Muller returned to the organization to serve as associate coach in June 2016.
In 1,349 regular season games in the NHL, Muller scored 357 goals and added 602 assists for 959 points. As a Canadien, he registered 247 points (104 goals) in 267 games. Muller also appeared in 127 playoff games recording 69 points, 33 of them goals.
In post-season play with the Canadiens he notched 32 points, including 20 goals in 38 contests, winning the Stanley Cup with the Habs in 1993.
He netted the Cup-winning goal in the fifth and final game of the Finals against the Los Angeles Kings on June 9, 1993.
Muller also served as captain of the Canadiens in 1994-95.
