BROSSARD - Montreal Canadiens general manager Kent Hughes announced on Monday that the team has agreed to terms on a two-year contract extension (2023-24 to 2024-25) with forward Rafaël Harvey-Pinard. The deal will pay him an average salary of $1.1 million per season.

Harvey-Pinard, 24, registered 20 points (14 goals, 6 assists) in 34 games with the Canadiens in 2022-23. The Saguenay, QC native made his season debut on Jan. 17 and led all rookies in goals as well as all rookie forwards in blocked shots (56) over that span.

Harvey-Pinard also played 40 games with the Laval Rocket in the AHL before being called up by the Canadiens. The 5-foot-9, 181 lb forward scored 16 goals and added 15 helpers with Laval, while also serving 20 penalty minutes.

Harvey-Pinard was selected in the seventh round (201st overall) by the Canadiens in 2019.
