Allen: "It's just about finishing the season on a strong foot"
Following the workout, interim head coach Martin St-Louis indicated that he's "95% certain" that goaltender Jake Allen will face the Dallas Stars on Thursday night at the Bell Centre.
Allen hasn't played since January 12 when he suffered a lower-body injury against the Boston Bruins at TD Garden.
The 31-year-old veteran has been chomping at the bit to return after an eight-week stint on the sidelines.
"For me, it's just about finishing the season on a strong foot. It's the same mindset as the whole team. Individually, it's just for me to finish the year on the right foot, on a positive foot," said Allen, who has a 5-16-2 record in 24 appearances this year. "I understand it's not going to be perfect right away. It's something I'm going to have to build over a couple of games to get back and go from there."

While he was out, Allen was particularly proud of the play of Sam Montembeault.
The 25-year-old has been leaned on heavily with Andrew Hammond going down earlier this month as well.
"It was a great opportunity for Sam. The hardest thing for a goalie in the NHL is to get a chance. A lot of goalies actually don't get to play in the NHL because they never get an opportunity, and they are good enough. This was a great chance for Sam. He did really well. I was really impressed. Playing a lot of minutes, and even when Hammy came in and did his thing for a few games before he got injured, he was playing awesome," praised Allen. "It was really good for me to see that, to see Sam take that opportunity and run with it. That's the way he looked at it, and he should. I know he wants to finish the year strong with me here."

Montembeault, meanwhile, says Allen's constant encouragement has meant a lot to him.
"He has always supported me. He was always there, even when he was injured. We were on the road for a while, and after every game, he took the time to text me and congratulate me and let me know I played well," explained Montembeault. "He has always been a good teammate."
Perreault placed on waivers
The Canadiens placed forward Mathieu Perreault on waivers on Wednesday afternoon.
Perreault, 34, has appeared in 18 games this season and registered five points (3 goals, 2 assists).

The Drummondville native signed a one-year contract last July.
In 701 career NHL games with Washington, Anaheim, Winnipeg and Montreal, Perreault has collected 349 points (142 goals, 207 assists).
The former QMJHL standout was a sixth-round selection of the Capitals (177th overall) in 2006.
