122721-WJC-Day1

MONTREAL - Habs fans were treated to a Boxing Day filled with a trio of prospects -- Kaiden Guhle, Jan Mysak, and Oliver Kapanen -- during the opening day of the 2022 World Junior Championship.

Finland 3 - Germany 1
The WJC kicked off with a tilt between Finland, featuring Canadiens prospect Oliver Kapanen, and Germany.
The 2021 second-round pick was the second-most utilized forward among all Finns, logging 15:57 of ice time in the opening game.
While he was held off the scoresheet in his team's 3-1 victory, Kapanen was a beast in the faceoff circle, winning six of his 10 draws.
Czechia 3 - Canada 6
Canada hit the ice against Czechia for the primetime tilt on Sunday evening, with the hosts picking up a 6-3 win despite trailing by a two-goal margin at one point in the first period.
Canadiens' first rounder and Team Canada captain Kaiden Guhle wasn't afraid to throw his weight around, dishing out plenty of punishing checks and making life difficult in the Canadians' zone for the Czechs.

Guhle finished his night with a plus-1 differential in just under 20 minutes of ice time.
Czechia captain and fellow Habs prospect Jan Mysak led his team in ice time while registering two shots on goal.
Today's Programming
Kapanen and Mysak are back in action on Monday facing Austria and Germany, respectively.
Guhle has the day off as Canada will face Austria in its second game of the tournament on Tuesday evening.
