The Vancouver Canucks scored three power play goals in the third period to get back in the game and force overtime against the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Boeser scored a hat trick and had an assist in the win, reaching the 30-goal mark for the first time in his career.

“It means a lot. It's obviously something that I've wanted to get to for a while. So, to get there, it's great, but obviously I couldn’t have done it without my teammates and how we're playing and how we've created the standard,” Boeser said.

Neither team scored in the first period, but with Columbus up 4-1 heading into the second break, the Canucks got themselves back in the game finishing chances on the power play, scoring on three of four on the man advantage.

“I think it shows a lot about the guys in the room and how we didn't give up and I think we still had the mindset after the second period that if we can go on the powerplay, we can go from there and come back and take it shift by shift,” Boeser shared. “We kept drawing penalties there and, and made it count so it's definitely a positive, but again, we don’t want to keep putting ourselves in that position.”

Head Coach Rick Tocchet said he liked the way his team played in the first period, but their puck management needed to be better in the second. Vancouver’s penalty kill played a factor down the stretch, killing off a five-minute penalty.

“Adversity hit us and the guys did a great job,” Tocchet shared. “The power play was awesome, PK [too], special teams was awesome tonight, crowd was giving us some juice and a great game for the third period for us.”

Quinn Hughes is the first defenceman this season to reach 60 points, doing so in just 49 games. He’s tallied 50 assists on the season, the third player to hit the 50 mark and he’s notched three assists in eight games this season.

Thatcher Demko stopped 25 of 29 shots he faced, for his 27th win of the season.
