Canucks Agree to Terms with Tristen Nielsen on Two-Year, ELC

Vancouver, B.C. - Vancouver Canucks General Manager Patrik Allvin announced today that the club has agreed to terms with forward Tristen Nielsen on a two-year, entry-level contract.

"Tristen is a player we identified as a prospect when he wasn't drafted," said Allvin. "Our coaching staff in Abbotsford and our development team helped him out a lot this season working on his overall skillset and game. He put in the work and is now being rewarded with this ELC."

Nielsen, 23, spent the entire 2022.23 season with the Abbotsford Canucks (AHL), recording 41 points (14-27-41) and 60 penalty minutes in his second professional season. In an additional six Calder Cup playoff games with Abbotsford, he added four points (2-2-4) and six penalty minutes.

The 5'10", 192-pound forward made his AHL debut with Abbotsford in 2021.22 and has since appeared in 105 regular season games with the club, registering 52 points (21-31-52), 77 penalty minutes, and a +10 rating. Previously, Nielsen played five full WHL seasons split between the Vancouver Giants and Calgary Hitmen, amassing 175 points (82-93-175) in 241 games.

A native of Fort St. John, BC, Nielsen represented Canada White at the 2017 World U-17 Hockey Challenge.
