Vancouver, B.C. - The Vancouver Canucks announced further details today about their upcoming Diwali Night, presented by Rogers, on October 24, 2022 against the Carolina Hurricanes. This will be the Canucks' sixth annual game night celebrating the diverse and vibrant culture of BC's South Asian community.

The Canucks are excited to welcome back Jazzy B as our intermission headliner plus DJ B.I.G. and DJ Xtatic from E3 Entertainment. Jazzy B (Jaswinder Singh Bains) has been on the music scene since 1993 and has produced multiple hit records and albums. He has collaborated with the likes of Snoop Dogg, had his song "Sat Rangey" in the hit movie Deadpool, and was inducted into the BC Entertainment Hall of Fame in 2016. Jazzy B will also perform before the game at the Diwali Party on the North Plaza at 6:45pm.
The Canucks will also wear brand new hand sewn, authentic on ice pro Diwali themed warm-up jerseys designed by local South Asian visual artist, Sandeep Johal. Johal began dedicating her time to creating artwork in 2016 and has since expanded her portfolio to comprise multiple exhibits, murals, awards, and community events in the Lower Mainland.
The warm-up jerseys feature the Canucks' classic orca redesigned with the vibrant colours of Diwali, plus stick-in-rink and a peacock as shoulder patches. The namebars will also be decorated with Diwali colours and include Punjabi and Hindi translations of the players' names.
After being worn by players during warm-up, a limited number of autographed jerseys will be available for auction on

About Diwali
The commemoration of Diwali is the festival of lights, an important religious celebration for Hindus, Jains and Sikhs (Bandi Chhor Divas). Originating in India, Diwali is celebrated all over the world. During this time, houses are decorated with diyas (candles), deepavali (lamps) and Rangoli artwork (patterns on the ground created by coloured powder or rice). Diwali is one of the most popular festivals in the South Asian calendar.
Diwali encourages a strong sense of unity with communities sharing food and gifts among friends, family, and those in need. Firework displays are presented in the community to highlight celebrations and show light triumph over darkness. Diwali means "row of lighted lamps" with light symbolizing the triumph of good over evil, prosperity over poverty and knowledge over ignorance.
