In 140 career NHL games over three seasons with the Vancouver Canucks, the 6-1, 229-pound right winger has collected 34 points (17-17-34) and 93 penalty minutes.
A native of New Westminster, British Columbia, Virtanen was originally selected by Vancouver in the first round, sixth overall, at the 2014 NHL Entry Draft.
