Sedins set to retire with impressive numbers for Canucks

After combining for 2,107 regular-season points during 17 NHL seasons, twin brothers Henrik Sedin and Daniel Sedin of the Vancouver Canucks are retiring at the end of this season. They will play their final home game against the Arizona Coyotes (10 p.m. ET; SN360, SNE, SNO, SNP, FS-A PLUS, NHL.TV) on Thursday and their last NHL game at the Edmonton Oilers on Saturday.

Here is a statistical look at some of their accomplishments:

* The Sedins debuted together when the Canucks played at the Philadelphia Flyers on Oct. 5, 2000. Since then, each of the 1,463 games the Canucks have played (1,358 in the regular season, 105 in the Stanley Cup Playoffs) has included at least one Sedin. In all, 94 percent have featured both Sedins (1,376 of 1,463), 4 percent have included only Henrik (57 of 1,463) and 2 percent have had only Daniel (30 of 1,463). Since the start of the 2009-10, the brothers have been on the ice together for 9,916:02, 90 percent of Daniel's time on ice and 89 percent of Henrik's during that span.

* Henrik is the Canucks leader in assists (828), points (1,068) and games played (1,328). Daniel is No. 1 in goals (391) and second in each of the other categories (648 assists, 1,039 points, 1,304 games played). They are the only players in Canucks history to reach 1,000 points. Henrik's 1,000th point came Jan. 20, 2017. Daniel got No. 1,000 on Nov. 30, 2017.
* Since the Sedins joined the Canucks, 36 percent of their regular-season goals (regulation and overtime) have included at least one Sedin (1,363 of 3,799). Of those, there were 743 on which each brother earned a point. Only Wayne Gretzky and Jari Kurri of the Edmonton Oilers have factored on the same goal more times in NHL history (764).
* Henrik and Daniel have combined to win five major NHL awards, including back-to-back seasons when they won the Art Ross Trophy as the NHL scoring leader (Henrik led with 112 points in 2009-10; Daniel with 104 in 2010-11). They are the only brothers in NHL history to lead the League in scoring in consecutive seasons. The other brothers to achieve that feat at any point during their NHL careers were the Conachers (Charlie with the Toronto Maple Leafs in 1933-34 and 1934-35, Roy with the Chicago Blackhawks in 1948-49) and the Bentleys (Doug in 1942-43, Max in 1945-46 and 1946-47, each with Chicago)

* The Sedins are the only brothers in NHL history to each have 1,000 points. The only brother tandem with more total points is the Gretzkys (Wayne has 2,857; Brent has four).
* The Sedins are two of five NHL players born in Sweden to have at least 1,000 points. The others are Mats Sundin (1,439 points; 564 goals, 785 assists), Daniel Alfredsson (1,157 points; 444 goals, 713 assists) and Nicklas Lidstrom (1,142 points; 264 goals, 878 assists).

* Daniel has scored 137 power-play goals, the most in Canucks history. He has never scored a shorthanded goal. Henrik has scored 61 power-play goals, tied for ninth in Canucks history, and seven shorthanded goals.
* Daniel is in a four-way tie for fourth place in NHL history with 15 overtime goals, with Marian Hossa, Sergei Fedorov and Sundin. The only players with more are Alex Ovechkin (22), Jaromir Jagr (19) and Patrik Elias (16).

* Only one pair of teammates played in more regular-season NHL games together than the Sedins (1,274). Gordie Howe and Alex Delvecchio of the Detroit Red Wings skated in 1,353 regular-season games together during 21 seasons. The Sedins are the fourth pair of teammates to play at least 17 NHL seasons together. The others are Howe and Delvecchio (21), George Armstrong and Tim Horton with the Maple Leafs (20), and Nicklas Lidstrom and Kris Draper with the Red Wings (17).
* Henrik and Daniel have played more than twice as many NHL games as teammates than any other brother combination. Anton and Peter Stastny are next. They played 609 games with the Quebec Nordiques.
