ARLINGTON, Va. -The Washington Capitals have recalled forward Chandler Stephenson from the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League (AHL), senior vice president and general manager Brian MacLellan announced today.

Stephenson, 23, leads Hershey with five goals and is tied for the team lead with six points in six games this season. The 6', 203-pound forward recorded his first career hat trick in a 4-2 win against the Grand Rapids Griffins on Oct. 21.
Stephenson played in four games with the Capitals last season and made his 2016-17 season debut on Jan. 24 at Ottawa. Stephenson earned 38 points (10g, 28a) in 72 games with Hershey during the 2016-17 regular-season and ranked fifth on the team in assists and seventh in points. The Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, native set AHL career highs in points, goals, assists and games played in 2016-17. In addition, Stephenson tallied five points (3g, 2a) in nine playoff games with the Bears last season and has recorded 16 points (5g, 11a) in 36 career AHL postseason games.
Stephenson played in nine games with Washington in the 2015-16 season and made his NHL debut on Oct. 15, 2015 vs. Chicago. Stephenson has earned 87 points (30g, 57a) in 180 career regular-season games with Hershey. Stephenson was drafted by the Capitals in the third round, 77th overall, in the 2012 NHL Draft.
