ARLINGTON, Va. - Capitals goaltender Charlie Lindgren has been named the NHL's First Star for the week ending Dec. 11, the NHL announced today.

Lindgren is the 10th different Capitals goaltender to earn First Star/Player of the Week honors and the first since Braden Holtby in 2011 (for the week ending March 14).
Lindgren's four-game win streak marks the second longest of his NHL career. Last season with the St. Louis Blues, Lindgren won five-straight games, going 5-0-0 with a 1.22 goals-against average and a .958 save percentage.
This season, Lindgren has a record of 6-3-2 with a 2.79 goals-against average and a .910 save percentage. The Capitals have earned at least one point in eight of the 10 games Lindgren has started (6-2-2). Among goaltenders with 10 or fewer starts this season, Lindgren ranks tied for fifth in the NHL in wins.
